The Benefits Of Finding The Right Guitar Teacher

By Byron Marks

Do you want to know that the time you are putting into your guitar playing will pay off for you?

Do you want a clear path to reaching your musical goals?

Do you want to be an awesome guitar player but have it not take forever to get there?

If your answer to any one (or all three) of these questions is yes then you will want to find a qualified guitar teacher in your area immediately. The right guitar teacher will be able to help you with all of those things and more. They will be able to help you consistently move towards your goal(s) and the best part is that they will be there every step of the way to help you.

In order to find the right guitar teacher you will first need to understand some things that people say and believe about guitar lessons that aren’t true.

  1. Allguitar teachers are not the same and neither are all guitar lessons

The common thought is that it doesn’t matter who you call for lessons because they (teachers and lessons) are all the same. Nothing can be further for the truth. If you were to ask the guitar teachers in your area how they teach students, the best teachers will stick out from the average or bad guitar teachers by a mile. Make sure to do your research when looking for the best fit for you.

  1. I can learn just fine by myself

If you needed surgery, would you want a doctor that is experienced and knows what he or she is doing, or would you put your trust in someone that said they learned how to perform surgery by watching it on tv or reading a book? If you were getting your car repaired, would you take it to an experienced mechanic or would you take it to someone who read a book about fixing cars?

The likely answer here is no. You wouldn’t trust the people that have no experience in those cases to help you. Learning how to play guitar should be the same. You want to get the best possible results for yourself so you should go to someone that knows how to help you get those. There are a lot of people that if asked, wouldn’t be able to prove to you that you should trust them to be able to help you.

Find a great guitar teacher in your area and take lessons with them. Your going to make so much progress and have fun in the process.

  1. I can learn from a friend of mine for free

On the surface this sounds like a great idea. Having a friend (someone you trust) teach you sounds like the best of both worlds. Taking lessons from a friend however can, more often than not, leave you right back in the very spot you are in right now. The truth is that your friend starts out with the very best of intentions but as time goes on, things with their schedule will cause the lessons to become less frequent and then eventually to stop altogether. Also, you may trust your friend completely but they still may not be qualified to teach you.

  1. I want to find the cheapest lessons possible

Price should never be the qualifier for who your are going to take guitar lessons from. The saying “you get what you pay for” applies to guitar teachers as well. Just because someone is the cheapest guitar teacher around doesn’t mean that they are going to be able to help you get the results that you are looking for. The truth is that the the best teacher will save you a lot of time and money.

There is a lot to consider when you are looking for a guitar teacher. Make sure to take your time and find out as much about potential guitar teachers as you can and find the teacher that is the best fit for you.
